Thieves steal priest’s car at gunpoint from Anambra Church

Gunmen robbed an Anglican priest, Reverend Canon Chibueze Abone, from his vehicle just inside the church grounds.

The incident reportedly happened at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State on Tuesday evening.

It was gathered that the thieves also stole other valuables from the priest.

The men allegedly held the priest at gunpoint before taking away his army green Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number GGE 195 FX.

State Information and Lights Commissioner Don Adinuba made the information available to reporters on Tuesday evening, saying the priest had lost vital documents, which were also taken with the car.

The message read: ‘A military green Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number GGE 195 FX was stolen at gunpoint from inside the Rectory of St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Oba (Idemili-South LGA , Anambra State) (8 February 2022). Other valuables belonging to Reverend Cannon Chibueze Abone were also taken away.

“Please any information leading to the recovery of the jeep should be directed to the nearest police station or contact Reverend Cannon Abone on 08038894070. Thank you.”
