Priests with Local Connections Celebrate Jubilee Anniversaries |

GREENSBURG — Several priests with ties to the region recently celebrated the jubilee anniversaries of their ordination dates. They joined other priests in the Diocese of Greensburg to celebrate the jubilees at a special Mass June 8 at Christ Our Shepherd Center in Greensburg, with Bishop Larry J. Kulick, JCL, as the main celebrant.

This year, Bishop Kulick celebrates the 30th anniversary of his ordination.

Reverend Alan W. Grote, 40. Father Grote was ordained a priest on May 1, 1982 by Bishop William G. Connare at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Greensburg. Originally from Uniontown, Father Grote attended Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

He was parochial vicar of the parish of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral; St. Joseph’s Parish, New Kensington; Holy Family Parish, Latrobe; Mount St. Peter Parish, New Kensington; and St. Margaret Mary Parish, Lower Burrell.

He was pastor of the former parish of St. Francis, Rossiter, and administrator of the former parish of St. Michael, Glen Campbell.

Currently, Father Grote serves as chaplain for pastoral care and provides assistance to clergy in northern Indiana County.

Reverend William C. McGuirk, 40. Father McGuirk, a native of Oil City, was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament on May 1, 1982 by Bishop William G. Connare. Father McGuirk attended Mary Immaculate Seminary, Northampton.

He served as Parish Vicar of Holy Family Parish, Latrobe; Holy Family Seward Parish; St. Margaret Mary Parish, Lower Burrell; Immaculate Conception Parish, Irwin; and St. Sebastian Parish, Belle Vernon.

He served as pastor of St. Thomas More University Parish, Indiana; St. John Baptist de La Salle Parish, Delmont; St. Florian’s Parish, United; and the former parish of Saint-Rosaire, République, and as administrator of the former parish of Saint-Stanislas, Calumet; the former parish of the Forty Martyrs, Trauger; and the former Virgin Mary of Czestochowa, Cardale.

He was also chaplain at the former Frick Community Health Centre, Mount Pleasant, and the former Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.

Currently Father McGuirk is pastor of Holy Cross Parish, Youngwood.

Father John A. Sparrow, 35 years old. Father Moineau was ordained a priest on May 2, 1987 by Bishop William G. Connare at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Father Moineau attended Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary, Emmitsburg, Md.

Father Moineau served as Parish Vicar of St. Agnes Parish, North Huntingdon; St. Bernard Parish of Clairvaux, Indiana; and Mother of Sorrows Parish, Murrysville; and pastor of former St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Sutersville; St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Kittanning; and Mother of Sorrows Parish, Murrysville. He also served on the pastoral team at Greensburg Central Catholic High School.

Currently, he is pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Irwin, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, North Huntingdon.

Father John J. Harrold, 30 years old. Father Harrold was ordained a priest by Bishop Anthony G. Bosco on May 16, 1992 at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. He attended Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, NY

Father Harrold served as Parish Vicar of St. Agnes Parish, North Huntingdon; Mother of Sorrows Parish, Murrysville; St. John the Evangelist Parish, Uniontown; and St. Bernard Parish of Clairvaux, Indiana; parish priest of St. Raymond of the Mountains, Donegal; St. Edward’s Parish, Herminie; and Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, Ford City; and trustee of St. Lawrence Parish, Cadogan.

Currently he is pastor of the partner parishes of St. Ambrose Parish, Avonmore; St. Matthew Parish, Saltsburg; and St. Sylvester Parish, Slickville.

Father William J. Lechnar, 25 years old. Father Lechnar was ordained a priest on June 7, 1997 by Bishop Anthony G. Bosco at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. The Uniontown native attended Saint Paul Seminary in Pittsburgh and Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe.

He served as vicar parochial at Immaculate Conception Parish, Irwin, and Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Parish.
