Mary passed away peacefully at the Annandale Care Center on Thursday, December 2, 2021. The Reverend Ronald Weyrens was the celebrant. Interment took place in the Saint-François-Xavier parish cemetery. Visitations were held on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour before the funeral at the assembly area of St. Francis Xavier Church. Mary was the eldest of three daughters born to Mathew and Monica (Barthelemy) Peschl on August 29, 1920. She attended one-class school near their farm in Minden Township, graduated from Cathedral High School, class of 1938 and Drew’s Business University. She married Benedict (Dick) Bronder on December 30, 1944 in St. Patrick’s Church. Together, they raised their children James, Joyce and Julie on the “Little Acre of God” on the banks of the Mississippi. As a young woman, she worked as a secretary in Foley and Minneapolis before becoming an accountant for Martin Fruth, Inc. for 45 years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and the Christian Women. She volunteered at SFX Elementary School, Election in Le Sauk Township, was a member of Foley Legion Auxiliary # 298 and a member of the PT Boat Association. Mary and Dick had a lush garden and bees. In retirement, they enjoyed traveling to meet up with “Ben’s” Navy buddies at PT Boat meetings across the country. Mary spent time with her friends at their sewing club, playing cards with other couples, having dinner Sunday at the farm on July 4th in Little Rock Lake, embroidering and sewing clothes for her daughters and granddaughters, and to keep a tidy house filled with love. She was a woman of great faith with special admiration for Our Blessed Mother. She prayed the Rosary every day and said it was what she could do to help others over the years. Mom was a real blessing to our family. She cherished her family and wrote down each child’s, grandchild and great-grandchild’s birthdays and other special accomplishments and could easily tell you all of their birthdays (and most other parents’ dates), even to 101 years old. His memory was remarkable. She will be sorely missed. Mary is survived by her daughter Julie (Dan) Hall of Annandale; son-in-law Bruce Bartels of Annandale; grandchildren Melissa (Keith) Blom of Sartell, Cory (Dan) Davis of Elkton, SD, Chris (Nikki) Hennen of Wasilla AK, Matthew (Kelli) Bronder of Annandale, Alexander (Lindsay) Bronder of Annandale; great-grandchildren Haley, Olivia and Jadyn Evans, Ryann, Reagan and Ty Davis, Izzy Hennen, Hadley and Hazel Bronder, and Talan, Evyn and Cohen Bronder. Memorials are preferred at the Poor Clare Monastery, Maryknoll Monastery, or a pro-life cause. Special thanks to everyone who assisted with the mother’s care, from meal preparation and cleaning, to assistants and medical staff. These special people are the angels among us who take care of those who need it most as they get older.
