Mangaluru, July 9: The parishioners as well as the parish clergy and religious celebrated the parish feast in honor of the patroness Our Lady of Miracles on Saturday July 9 after two long years. The parish feast is a time when the faithful thank God for his abundant blessings and protection throughout the year. This year’s party was special because it was celebrated after two years. The pandemic had interrupted all major celebrations in the past.
Bishop Maxim Noronha, Vicar General of the Diocese of Mangalore was the main celebrant of the Solemn Mass, concelebrated by the parish clergy and the priests of the deanery. The theme of the feast was Mary’s response to God’s call; Let it be done to me according to your word.
Bishop Maxim in his reflection insisted on the importance of listening to the word of God as Mary did. Quoting the prophet Isaiah, one can be fruitful in life by hearing the word of God. Mary listened to the word of God and gave birth to the author of life, and her mission was fruitful.
The parish priest, Father Bonaventure Nazareth, thanked everyone for participating in the celebration and for actively participating in church activities throughout the year. The donors of the feast were honored at the beginning of the mass.
Masses for Sunday, July 10 are at 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8:15 a.m. (solemn mass in English), 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
