Those in charge of the diocesan Curia of the Archdiocese of Kinshasa in the DRC have published the funeral program for Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya, who died at the age of 81 last Sunday in Versailles, France.
The Archbishop of Kinshasa, Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo requested that masses be celebrated and prayers recited in parishes and religious communities in memory of this “beloved pastor”.
Notre-Dame du Congo Cathedral
The remains of Cardinal Monsengwo will arrive in Kinshasa on Saturday July 17 and will be transported to Notre-Dame du Congo Cathedral at 10 a.m. Thereafter, the body will rest in the morgue of St Joseph’s Hospital, where it will remain until Tuesday, July 20. This Tuesday morning, at 10:30 a.m., a solemn funeral in the open air will take place on Esplanade Of The People’s Palace Ground Floor – the open space outside the National Assembly of the DRC and the seat of the Senate.
Interment is scheduled for July 21 at 9:30 a.m. in the Cathedral, after a liturgical celebration.
The bells ring every day at 5.30 p.m. in the parishes
The Archdiocese of Kinshasa has invited parishes to ring church bells every day at 5:30 p.m. to remind parishioners to pray in suffrage for Cardinal Monsengwo Pasinya. Parishes and laity have also been urged to strictly adhere to anti-covid protocols instituted by the government.
