MORGAN – Bonnie Welter, 66, of Morgan, died on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Benedictine Health Care Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Christian Burial Mass will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan, Minnesota, with the funeral at a later date. Visitations will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Morgan, with parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Visits will continue 1 hour before the funeral mass at the church on Thursday.

Bonnie was born September 30, 1954 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Frederick and Gloria (Schou) Gegner. She grew up on a farm near Morgan where she enjoyed taking care of lots of chicks and kittens. She graduated from Morgan Public School in 1973. While in high school, Bonnie began dating Rex Welter, they joined in marriage on April 20, 1974. Bonnie and Rex had three children, Scott, Joy and Cory.

Bonnie has worked for Norwest Bank, Bonnie’s Day Care, Morgan Industries and she recently worked for F&M Bank of Morgan for 26 years before retiring. Bonnie has been a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout Leader and Mom Cookie, and a member of the Civic and Business Council. Her favorite activity was being part of the Morgan Community Players, which she participated in for 13 years.

Bonnie enjoyed family reunions and precious moments with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the piano, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She was an avid reader, always excited to start a new story. Bonnie also really enjoyed every moment she was able to spend at the lake, fishing with her. “golden hook”, feeding the chipmunks with his hand, watching the birds and enjoying the sunsets over the lake. Being by the lake was her time to relax and appreciate the beauty that surrounded her.

She is survived by her husband Rex of 47, her three children Scott (Andrea), Joy (Bill), Cory (Nicole) and 10 grandchildren: Lauren, Jaylyn & Ray Welter; Damian, Garret, Mikala, Jasmyn and Peyton Wiese; and Cadence and Cassidy Welter. She is also survived by her mother Gloria Gegner, her sister Darla (Brian) Sams, her sister-in-law Kim (Joe) Scanlan, her nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her father Frederick, her brothers Randy and Kevin, and her in-laws Delrose and Melvin Welter.
